1. Get an overview!
To make sure you don’t just spend your Career Day floating from one stand to the next, make sure to gather information on which companies will be present and which ones you’re interested in. Your Career Center can help you with any question regarding the Career Fair and the surrounding program.

2. Know your companies!
Once you know which companies you want to connect with at the Career Fair, collect information on their current projects, their organization and their application processes. The more you know, the more specific your questions can be and you’ll be able to have an actual conversation that provides you with information and allows you to make a positive first impression.

3. Prepare your elevator pitch
Be able to tell someone in 30 seconds why you are a great candidate. What have you achieved, why are you a great fit for the company’s culture, what makes you unique?

4. Don’t arrive empty-handed!
A simple CV with your contact details lets the person you’ve talked to remember you and makes it easy to get in touch with you.

5. Dress code
You don’t have to wear a suit and tie to make a good impression, but keep in mind that you’re meeting your potential employer – dress accordingly!

6. Be positive, smile and have a winning posture
Be genuinely friendly and positive. People should enjoy talking to you and believe in your positive energy.

7. Keep an open mind!
It pays off to be prepared and know which company you’re interested in. But if you have the opportunity to talk to employers you hadn’t considered before, you might be surprised how well they suit you, too.

8. Follow-up
Write a thank you note or call the person you’ve talked to. Tell them that you’ve enjoyed talking to them and ask them if they need any additional information or references.
